Privacy Policy

ShamiTune (the "App") respects the privacy of its users. The App does not collect any personally identifying information, but it does collect anonymous usage data to improve the quality of the App (see "4. Usage analytics" below).

1. Information we do not collect

The App does not collect any information that could identify a user. Specifically, it does not do any of the following.

• Collect personal information such as your name, email address or phone number
• Access your location, contacts or photos
• Display advertising, or use data for advertising purposes
• Require account registration or sign-in
• Use data to identify or track an individual

2. Processing and storage of data

Settings such as tempo, time signature and accent are used only on your device and are not transmitted anywhere. The only data sent externally is the anonymous usage data described below.

3. Microphone and audio

The App's tuner uses the microphone to determine the pitch of your instrument, and its tempo detection uses the microphone to estimate the tempo (BPM) of your playing. Audio captured by the microphone is processed in real time on your device only (to calculate pitch and the spacing between attacks); it is never recorded, stored or transmitted. The microphone is active only while the Tuner screen or the Tempo screen is open.

4. Usage analytics

The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data, in order to improve the App and identify problems. The main information collected is as follows.

• App launches, screen views and interaction events (for example, starting playback or changing the time signature)
• Device model, OS version, app version and approximate region (such as country)
• An anonymous app instance identifier generated by Google

This data does not identify individuals and is used only for statistical analysis. Handling of the data follows Google's privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). It is not used for advertising purposes and is not sold to third parties.

5. Device permissions

Because the App keeps the click sounding in the background and while the screen is locked, it uses audio playback permissions (iOS: background audio; Android: a foreground service for media playback). It also uses the microphone permission for the tuner and tempo detection (see "3. Microphone and audio" above; if you do not use those features, the microphone permission is not required). These are used solely to continue playback of the click and reference tones and to analyse pitch, never for data collection.

6. Disclosure to third parties

Apart from Google, the provider of the analytics described above, we do not provide or sell data to any third party. No advertising SDK is included in the App.

7. Children's privacy

Because the App collects no personally identifying information, it can be used safely at any age.

8. Requesting deletion of your data

ShamiTune (developer: ObraMaestra LLC) does not collect personally identifying information, but if you would like the anonymous usage data collected via Google Analytics to be deleted, you can request it as follows.

• How to request: email makoto@obramaestra.co.jp with the subject "Data deletion request". We will process the deletion of the data associated with your device's analytics identifier.
• What is deleted or retained: the anonymous usage data collected by the App (interaction events, device identifier, approximate region). No personal information such as name or email is held in the first place.
• Retention period: usage data is deleted automatically after at most 14 months under the Google Analytics settings. Contact us at the address above if you would like it deleted sooner.
